Day 1, Tuesday. USA-ICELAND
Depart the USA and fly through the trans Atlantic night to Iceland.

Day 2, Wednesday. REYKJAVIK
Arrive Keflavik Airport early in the morning and transfer on your own by shuttle bus to you hotel (not included), conveniently located in the fairytale capital of Reykjavik.
Overnight in Reykjavik.

Day 3, Thursday. THINGVELLIR - SOUTH SHORE - VIK

Starting with a drive past the Nesjavellir geothermal area, head to Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake, and Thingvellir National Park, the ancient site of the first parliament. Continue along the south shore and stop to admire the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss before continuing to Dyrhólaey nature reserve (closed during nesting season in spring mid May-Jun 23). Continue to the village Vík area.

Day 4, Friday. VIK - SKAFTAFELL - GLACIAL LAGOON - HÖFN

Cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of lava ever to flow on earth in historical time, before you reach the small village Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. The tour continues over Skeidarársandur sands to Skaftafell National Park. Continue to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon to see the birthplace of icebergs. Continue east towards Höfn area to your accommodation.

Day 5, Saturday. HÖFN - EAST FJORDS - EGILSSTADIR

From Höfn drive through the Almannaskard pass, stop and admire the majestic coastline and view. On to the towering mountains plunging vertically into the sea that form the magnificent East Fjords. Linger over the renowned Petra's stone collection.

Day 6, Sunday. EGILSSTADIR - LAKE MYVATN

Explore the empty vastness of the highland desert plateau Mödrudalsöræfi, heading to Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall. Continue towards Námaskard Pass with its boiling mud pools and vibrant colors. Explore the natural beauty of the Lake Mývatn area, including the peculiar lava formations at Dimmuborgir, the pseudo craters at Skútustadir and the Laxá salmon river.

Day 7, Monday. LAKE MYVATN - AKUREYRI
Head towards the bustling northern port of Akureyri with a stop at the magnificent Godafoss waterfall. Akureyri boasts some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory.

Day 8, Tuesday. AKUREYRI - BORGARFJORDUR - SELFOSS

Majestic mountains and narrow passes lead to Skagafjördur for an introduction of the unique Icelandic horse, with its fifth gait - the tolt. Cross the Holtavörduheidi plateau to Borgarfjördur in the beautiful Borgarnes area, stopping to admire Hraunfossar waterfall and Deildartunguhver hot spring, and then continue over the breathtaking Kaldidalur mountain pass.

Day 9, Wednesday. GULLFOSS - GEYSIR - BLUE LAGOON - REYKJAVIK

Explore Gullfoss, the 'golden waterfall', and the nearby Geyser hot spring area to see the famous Geysir and Strokkur, and numerous other hot springs and boiling mud pools. Continue to the Blue Lagoon for a refreshing bath in the warm, mineral-rich waters before returning to Reykjavík.

Day 10, Thursday. REYKJAVIK - USA
This afternoon, board the airport shuttle (not included) at your hotel for a transfer to Keflavik Airport. Fly back to the USA, or take an extension to Greenland.
