Day 1, HELSINKI Arrive Helsinki, the elegant and sophisticated capital of Finland with an abundance of museums, striking architecture, elegant shopping and gourmet restaurants. Check into hotel of your choice. Hotel S G D P Day 2, HELSINKI–KUOPIO This morning travel by train through rolling hills along serene lakes to the city of Kuopio, founded in 1775 by King Gustav III. Your hotel is centrally located within walking distance to shopping and entertainment. Hotel S G Day 3, KUOPIO After breakfast, walk over to the pier for a 2 hour lake cruise. Do not miss the Puijo Tower, with an endless view of the forests and lakes around Kuopio. Hotel: S G Day 4, KUOPIO-SAVONLINNA Today get ready for a full day cruise to Savonlinna. The lake steamer makes numerous stops on its way while lunch is served onboard. The history of Savonlinna dates back to 1475, when the Olavinlinna castle was founded. Hotel: S G Day 5, SAVONLINNA-LAPPEENRANTA A scenic train ride will take you to Punkaharju, where you can visit Retretti, one of the largest art centers in Nordic countries. Later continue your trip on a train to Lappeenranta, near the Russian border. Finland’s oldest Orthodox Church is located here.
