Day 1, STOCKHOLM Check into your hotel of choice. Passage Tours offers a wide range of hotels, all of them centrally located in or close to Gamla Stan Stockholm's medieval Old Town. Hotels: D P G S Day 2, STOCKHOLM-VAXJO Pick up your rental car in the morning and start your drive south on E4. Pass cities like Sodertalje, Norrkoping and Linkoping and get into the small village of Odeshog. Drive along Sweden's second largest lake "Vattern" to the city of Jonkoping and on to Vaxjo. Do not miss the Emigrant Museum that has archives, information and historical exhibition on the exodus to America in the second half of the 19th century. Hotels: G S Day 3, VAXJO-KALMAR Today you will be driving in the fascinating province of Smaland, to some of the most famous glassworks in the world. Visit glass factories like Kosta Boda and Orrefors and witness the glassblowers blowing, engraving and glass painting in the workshops and studios. Continue to the city of Kalmar located on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Hotels: G S Day 4, KALMAR-BORGHOLM Continue by car over the 4 miles' long bridge to the island of Oland. Oland is a summer paradise for most Swedes, including the Royal Family who has their summer residence Solliden close to the town of Borgholm. Borgholm is the "capital" of Oland with shops, small cafes and museums, including the enormous castle ruins. Hotels: H Day 5, BORGHOLM-STOCKHOLM Return to Stockholm by way of the bridge to the mainland and continue due north on the coastal road pas cities like Oskarshamn, Vastervik, Norrkoping, Nykoping and Sodertalje putting you back in Stockholm by late afternoon.
