| Day 1, OSLO All the Passage Tours hotels are located in downtown Oslo, within walking distance to Karl Johans Gate - the main street - and to most major attractions. Oslo is the oldest of the Scandinavian capitals, dating back to the eighth century when man first settled on the banks of the river Lo's estuary into the Oslo fjord. Hotel: S G P D Day 2, OSLO-ARENDAL Depart by deluxe motor coach to quaint and picturesque Arendal, a coastal village known for its white wooden houses and picket fences. In Tyholmen, the old town, these small houses and cottages are in abundance. Hotel: S G Day 3, ARENDAL-KRISTIANSAND A 90 minute coach ride takes you to Kristiansand, a prosperous port city and the most popular domestic summer resort among Norwegians. Kristiansand has a grid pattern of wide streets laid out in squares, designed by King Christian IV, the Danish Architect King, who founded the city in 1641. Hotel: S G Day 4, KRISTIANSAND-STAVANGER A 3 hours' coach ride takes you to Stavanger, Norway's fourth largest city situated on the Ryfylke Fjord. It has always been a bustling seaport with a thriving fish-canning industry. Today it is the oil capital of Europe, but still retains much of its village charm in the well preserved old quarters with cobblestone walkways among rows of early 18th century whitewashed wooden houses behind picket fences. Hotel: S G P Day 5, STAVANGER-PULPIT ROCK * Today's excursion to the Pulpit Rock takes you into the dramatic scenery of the Lyse Fjord. This is the area's most popular outing, and you can hike to the top of the awesome Pulpit rock. *) Summer only. Hotel: S G P Day 6, STAVANGER-OSLO The flight back to Oslo takes only 40 minutes, take the high speed train to the city center and stay in any of the Passage hotels in Oslo. Hotel: S G P D Day 7, OSLO Stay on in Oslo or take another Passage Tours arrangement in Norway, Scandinavia or Europe. |
